Mental Health Awareness Month

Hosted by The Office of Diversity and Equity

May Mental Health Awareness Month

Each year, San Mateo County joins our state and country in celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) in May. MHAM is one of the best times of the year where we can increase awareness and inspire action to reduce stigma against those with mental health and substance use conditions.

Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger

As Recovery Month celebrates its 30th anniversary, this year’s national theme highlights the need to share resources and build stronger networks across the country to support the many paths to recovery. Mental and substance use disorders affect all of us, and we are all part of the solution.

Coastal Cleanup Day

Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual waterway and land cleanup held on the third Saturday of every September. It’s California’s largest volunteer event and brings community awareness to cleaning up our streets and protecting our marine environment.

San Mateo County Environmental Health Services coordinates the event in partnership with the California Coastal Commission, the Ocean Conservancy, and many Statewide and local partners (see below).
